Well we made it through day 2. a little sore and tired but we made it. :)
This morning we started out in Tiananmen Sqaure. There are many fun decorations from the Olympic that are still there for all to see., also we saw the famous Mao picture. We walked up on top of the gate. The view was so amazing, we also saw a sea of people.
I thought that was the hard part.... then we turned and went into the enterance of the Forbidden City. OH MY!!! There were so so so many people and they were pushing us into the gate.. So after 1.5 hrs of being pushed we had our tickets checked and we were officially inside. It was pretty cool . My student Mary had her nephew (Jason) be our tour guide he is young (21) so his english is good and he did so well to explain what every building was and how it functioned. There is so much to see there. We did not see it all. I was so lost.. it makes me wonder how the Emperor knew where he was going all the walls and halls looked the same to me! The sun was hot and bright! The umbrella broke 1/2 way through the trip... We started this trip at about 9 and finshed at 4. We did get to see all the main buildings , the empresses court, the garden, clock measuem, and all the other cool things along the path.
Next time we will go when it is cooler and not National Holiday where people push you so you feel like you are being carried up the stairs.. only to realize at the end you are wiped because of so many stairs and being pushed.
Hot pot for dinner :) one of my fav's. Then after we went to see the Water cube and the Birds Nest outside only. To many people and too much walking to go inside. All I could think was WOW. They are pretty cool looking. I enjoyed watching the Water Cube change color. i took video that i will post when I return.
Another wonderful day.. and more to come. ;0)
